Terms of Service

By downloading or using Nové, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully — especially the sections on subscriptions, cancellation, and liability.

1. About Nové

Nové is a personal journaling and reflection app developed by Charlotte Svendsen ("we", "us", "our"). Nové is available on iOS via the Apple App Store.

By accessing or using Nové, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Nové. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

3. Subscription and payment

Nové offers a paid subscription that unlocks full access to the app's features, including AI reflections, the pattern map, and weekly letters.

Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annual, as selected at purchase).
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Prices are displayed in the App Store and may vary by region.
A free trial may be offered; unused trial time is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.

4. Auto-renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.

Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Apple manages all billing on our behalf — we do not store or process your payment information.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings:

Go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Select Nové and tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until that date. We do not offer partial refunds for unused time within a billing period.

For refund requests, please contact Apple Support directly, as all purchases are made through the App Store and governed by Apple's refund policy.

6. No guarantees of insight accuracy

Nové uses AI to generate reflections, identify patterns, and write weekly letters based on your journal entries. These features are designed to support personal reflection — not to provide facts, assessments, or conclusions about you.

AI-generated insights may be imperfect, incomplete, or inaccurate. They are not guaranteed to be correct, relevant, or meaningful in all cases. Nové makes no warranty that its reflections accurately represent your emotional state, behaviour, or experiences.

You should treat everything Nové generates as a starting point for your own reflection — not as truth.

7. User responsibility for decisions

You are solely responsible for any decisions you make based on content generated by Nové.

Nové's reflections are not professional advice. Nothing in the app should be used as a substitute for:

Medical or psychiatric advice
Psychological or therapeutic treatment
Legal, financial, or other professional guidance

If you are facing a significant life decision, mental health challenge, or personal crisis, please consult a qualified professional.

8. Not for emergency use

Nové is not an emergency service. Do not use Nové to seek help in a crisis or medical emergency. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call emergency services (113 in Norway, 112 in the EU, 911 in the US).

While Nové may surface supportive resources if your entries suggest distress, this is not a substitute for professional crisis intervention. Nové cannot call for help, alert anyone on your behalf, or guarantee a response of any kind.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nové and its developer, Charlotte Svendsen, shall not be liable for:

Any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app
Decisions made in reliance on AI-generated content
Loss of data due to device failure, app deletion, accidental deletion by the user, or technical error
Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Nové shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Apple App Store

Nové is distributed via the Apple App Store. Apple is not responsible for the maintenance, support, or content of Nové, and any claims relating to the app — including product liability, legal compliance, or consumer protection — should be directed to us, not Apple.

Apple has no obligation to provide refunds, updates, or support for Nové. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to Nové if a user violates these terms, misuses the app, or engages in unlawful behavior. Where possible, we will notify you before taking such action.

12. Intellectual property

The Nové app, including its software, design, branding, logos, name, and original content, is owned by Charlotte Svendsen. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the app without written permission.

You retain ownership of all journal entries and content you write. By using Nové, you do not grant us any rights to your personal writing.

13. Changes to the app or terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of Nové after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of Nové at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes where possible.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Any disputes shall be resolved in Norwegian courts, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law in your country of residence.
